The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) says that at least 5,000 PCR tests per day should be conducted at random in the community as there is a high risk of a second wave of corona with a large number of COVID patients being reported from the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Center.

Dr. Naveen de Zoysa, Assistant Secretary of the Association, said that it is doubtful whether the first bunch of the second wave of corona came from the Marawila area through the corona infected woman who was found from Marawila.

He also pointed out that corona patients are being reported continuously from the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Center and that more cases may be reported from that center in the future.

He also said that it is not yet known where the social circulation of these infected people has started as well as the number of people who have left and arrived at the Kandakadu center.

Naveen de Zoysa warns that the situation could be dangerous if it is not brought under control.
