Born in the US of A
In God we trust
By Priyath Liyanage

“In the land of the free
And the home of the brave”
I can’t breathe
Your knee is on my neck

Seek out freedom, gather all the brave
Replace lady liberty with a figure of Micky mouse
paint it black. Who needs a White House?
Ask lady Lustitia to rip her blindfold
Justice is not technicolour, It’s in white and black
The knee was on my neck since a long time back

Star spangled stripes are red white and blue
I only saw black when it burnt through
knee was on my neck since long time back
In “the land of the free
And the home of the brave”
Your knee is still on my neck
I can’t breathe

Klan Hoods embed in hearts not on heads
Crosses are burnt inside bigoted chests
White knee on my neck in the land of the free
injustice prevails in this Home of the brave
his knee is still pressing
in this land death is “free”

Southern trees may not “bear a strange fruit”
There is still “blood on leaves and blood at the root”

Black lives matter

“In God is our trust?”
