The Opposition MPs who voted in favour of the 20th Amendment to the Constitution may likely to join Ranil Wickremesinghe, Leader of the United National Party (UNP), to continue with the parliament affairs, unconfirmed reports in the political arena claim.

Contributing to the claim, Diana Gamage, the Opposition MP who voted in favour of the 20A in Parliament and later joined the Ruling Party in the hope of being sworn in as the State Minister of Women and Children affairs, is in disillusion in the event that the promise was not fulfilled, sources said, awakening a possibility that she will be joining Wickremesinghe for future politics.

Six more Opposition MPs belonging to the political parties led by MPs Rishard Bathiudeen and Rauf Hakeem also voted in favour of the 20A, and these figures are also on the list, according to sources.

Accordingly, there is chance that the Leader of the oldest political party in Sri Lanka will be able to represent a small group of MPs in the chambers, despite being nominated as the sole national list MP from the UNP.
