A Chief Executive Officer in a big local firm has built a big reputation by carefully manufactured stories planted in the media and interviews that as a leader is a great first in everything and a change maker; winning several awards. Now most are talking about this person who has blazed a trail for others to follow. The letters we have got from colleagues gives us a very different story including the interviews about school days, legendary sports victories, the actual background, the way the leader worked through the Organisations.
The corporate leader makes a great story for management students. The person is getting promoted by some organizations and the leader thrives by sharing the life story with a lot of energy of the difficult background they had to endure to make the story interesting. The leader impresses the bosses but is a nightmare for the subordinates because of the drive to succeed any cost.
When they get there by any unethical means by winning the confidence of their bosses, a colleague wrote people call them role models and various Organisations use the person as the poster child to advice young women how to achieve their career goals and to create a more equitable society. Next they may promote to get the person to Parliament.
