Gotabaya Rajapaksa, presidential contender of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna, who is now facing some hesitation in holding public rallies, has arranged a tea party for the public.

Hashtagged #TeawithGota, a trend is being circulated on social media, with even having a website.

This event, which is posted on his official Facebook page with a quote goes, "Join me for a cup of tea as my special guest", is not known for a date or time, and his 'devotees' comments in the comments section embodied with horror are evident.

The catchy element to Gotabaya Rajapaksa's invitation for a cup of tea was the nature of the comments stated beneath. Quoted, "It's a good idea sir", "Brilliant Idea sir", "Welldone sir", a lot of pro-Gota activists call him "sir" in most of the comments. Nonetheless, in between, comments like "Are you madmen slaves to call a politician Sir", are also evident.

The event either way has created a situation in which devotees are eager to but afraid of seeing him in person for a cup of tea in a building with closed doors. This fear is reasonable, given that Gotabaya Rajapaksa has held conferences without even opening it to the media.

Many pro-Gota activists with the eager-to-but-afraid mentality were even seen chatting with each other on whether to wear a helmet or have a dress code before meeting him given the probability that Gotabaya Rajapaksa may even throw a cup of tea at them while asking about the murder of Lasantha or Thajudeen.
