‘Queerness, Queering and Queerversity’ – the 3rd annual Pride Speech by Mx. Antke Engle, PhD,  the Director at Institute for Queer Theory, Berlin is scheduled to be held this Saturday, 5th December at 4.00 p.m as a virtual event.

Queer politics in relation to the LGBTI-diversity politics and the principle of 'queerversity' will be discussed extensively. Mx. Antke Engle, PhD will present the principle of queerversity, a critical consideration of depoliticized diversity politics, as a tool for bridging the gaps between LGBTI+ and queer politics.

''For this matter, i will consider as an example a recent development in German Civil Statute Law. In 2018 two new options have been introduced for registering sex_gender in birth certificates and passports; Apart from registering as male or female, it becomes possible to register as 'diverse', or to delete the sex_gender entry all together. While often, this is considered by the media as introducing 'third gender','' i will argue, that the legal reform has a more far-reaching queer potential. It introduces queerversity to the formerly binary sex_gender order.'' says Mx. Antke Engle, PhD.

The event is jointly organized by Chathra, Community Welfare and Development Fund (CWDF), Venasa Transgender Network and Goethe Institute and it will be broadcasted live on ‘CWDF Lanka’ Facebook page
