A Cabinet paper is to be tabled in the Cabinet meeting today (09) approving Chena Cultivation in lands protected by the Wildlife Conservation Department under the guidelines of the government agents, Minister C.B Rathnayake disclosed.
The Minister made this disclosure speaking to media yesterday (08).
Under the recommendations of a government agent, Chena Cultivation may be continued, and accordingly, the Cabinet paper in this regard will be tabled by Minister Rathnayake.
The government agents are of a good understanding on the matter, therefore, Chena Cultivation under their guidance may continue in the aforementioned lands, the Minister emphasised.
It is also noteworthy that this Cabinet paper allowing Chena Cultivation to be established in eco sensitive areas is being tabled amidst the allegations leveled against the Ruling Party for destroying the forest canvass in Sri Lanka.
