MP Namal Rajapaksa currently resides in the Northern Province. That is, for the propaganda affairs of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna amidst the upcoming presidential election. He is travelling around the North holding small pocket meetings on the way.
His small pocket meetings are being largely provided media coverage. But the most significant element in his Jaffna meetings is the fact that he calls Mr. R. Sampanthan, leader of Tamil National Alliance (TNA), Sambandhan Ayya (Sampanthan Bro).
"If you ask Sambandhan ayya for roads, he will tell you to wait for the right of self-determination. We developed the North. What did Sambandhan Ayya give you?", as he continues to call him "Sambandhan Ayya!"
Mr. R. Sampanthan is currently the oldest member of the Parliament of Sri Lanka. Born in 1933, he is 86. He represented Parliament from 1977 to 1983 and again from 2001 to present.
Namal Rajapaksa was born in 1986, 53 years younger than Mr. Sampanthan. Even his father is 12 years older than Mr. Sampanthan.
However, Namal Rajapaksa, who merely bloomed out of his father's image during the Rajapaksa rule, sees everyone beyond the fence second-rated. He has already taken fun of Mr. Sampanthan. Namal, as the Rajapaksas ruled the country for ten years, has a history during which he had caused serious inconvenience to a senior Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Member by calling him, "What's the matter uncle, can't you stand up when I walk in? Have a problem in your fupa?" So, if the Rajapaksas gain back power, there may be a high chance of him calling Mr. Sampanthan, "Yo Samba!"
The Pohottu Party is going to make a law-abiding disciplined country with men like Namal Rajapaksa who does even know to respect his elders.
May the Triple Gems bless Sri Lanka!
