The Attorney General today (13) has informed the Court that the indictments filed before the Three-Member Colombo High Court against former Navy Commander Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda, a defendant to the case of the abduction and disappearance of 11 youths, will be withdrawn.
This was informed by Senior State Counsel Avanthi Perera, as the writ filed by the defendant demanding the nullification of the Attorney General's decision to prosecute Karannagoda before the Colombo High Court was taken up today.
The abductions had taken place in 2008 in Colombo and its suburbs.
The petition was taken up before the Appeal Court Bench comprising Justices Sobhitha Rajakaruna and Dhammika Ganepola. The case was adjourned for further hearing on November 03.
