BASL questions Lohan Ratwatte’s further role as a minister

The Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL) has raised concerns on Lohan Ratwatte, who had tendered resignation to his post as the State Minister of Prison Management and Rehabilitation over the allegation of barging into a prison and having gunpoint at Tamil prisoners, being entitled to the tenure as the State Minister of Gem and Jewelery Industries.

In the event that Ratwatte has acknowledged the responsibility over his alleged conduct via the resignation, he has no moral right to hold any government post further, the BASL emphasised in a statement. It further added that Ratwatte, in fact, is not entitled to hold any position of responsibility as the charges against him are extremely serious.
