A formal integrated approach will be developed to identify and promote investment opportunities in sectors that are nationally a priority sector. A special discussion on the preparation of this program was held at the Ministry of Finance yesterday (28) under the patronage of the Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa.
Under this program, areas such as fisheries and pharmaceuticals, where investment opportunities are currently abundant, as well as various areas that can attract investment, will be identified expeditiously and the environment required for project implementation will be created. It is hoped to set up a systematic advertising mechanism to educate local and foreign investors on such identified sectors.
Discussions were also focused on expanding the facilities provided to investors by developing an inter-coordination program between the relevant government agencies to enable them to perform their services more efficiently.
Minister of State Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Secretary to the Ministry of Finance S.R. Attygalle, and a delegation from the investment sector participated in this discussion.
