Police Media Spokesman, Senior DIG Ajith Rohana stated that investigations are being carried out regarding the girl who died due to burns while working at the house of MP Rishad Bathiudeen. The Police Media Spokesman states that nearly 30 statements have been obtained regarding this incident and investigations are being carried out based on the facts stated in those statements.
Police have also questioned another woman who worked at Bathiudeen's house between 2015 and 2019 and it has been revealed that she too has been abused. A brother of Bathiudeen was arrested yesterday (24) in connection with the incident.
Three persons have been arrested in connection with the incident and are due to be produced before the Colombo Magistrate's Court tomorrow (26).
Meanwhile, the investigation team has drawn attention to a bank account of the broker who sent the dead girl to work at Bathiudeen's house. Ajith Rohana states that a further investigation is being carried out into the manner in which money was credited to the account maintained in a bank in the Agarapathana area.
