National Organiser of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Basil Rajapaksa is to be sworn in as a member of Parliament on July 08, political sources claimed. Although early reports claimed that his coming in Parliament was due on July 06, the SLPP founder's quarantine period was to be concluded on the same date.

Mr. Rajapaksa is set to enter Parliament filling the seat vacant upon the resignation of national list Ruling Party MP Dr. Ranjith Bandara, according to sources.

Upon the swearing in of Mr. Rajapaksa as a MP, he is also due to be appointed as a Cabinet Minister, namely the Minister of Policy Planning, Finance and Economic Development, sources added.

Sources also claimed that Dr. Bandara, whose parliamentary seat Rajapaksa is filling, will be appointed as the Secretary to his ministry. However, early reports were of the claim that Dr. Bandara was to be appointed as the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

In addition to Bandara, several other MPs have also offered their parliamentary membership for the coming of Basil Rajapaksa.
