The Cabinet has decided not to increase gas prices. However, several decisions have been approved to minimize the losses incurred by the companies.
Accordingly, the purchase, transportation and storage of gas should be done jointly by the two companies and both companies will be allowed to use the Hambantota Gas Terminal for this purpose.
The Cabinet has also approved the appointment of a committee of experts in the field, including representatives of Litro and Laugfs Gas, to carry out the procurement, transportation and storage of LP gas.
The Cabinet agreed to implement the recommendations made by the Ministerial Sub-Committee appointed to determine gas prices within the next six months and review its progress.
