The United Citizens' Alliance speaking to media has seriously questioned why the Prime Minister and the Government did not reject the resolution of importing vehicles amidst a time people were on the verge of deathbed. Movement convener Chameera Perera questioned whether is it possible to even table such a resolution to import vehicles at the cost of Rs. 5 billion against such a crisis in the country.
Although the Prime Minister had earlier made a statement emphasising that the import of vehicles will not proceed, a Cabinet spokesman has stated otherwise that the action will have to be proceeded in the event that the letter of credit (LC) regarding the vehicles has already been opened.
Accorrdingly, the United Citizens' Alliance questioned on who's orders was the LC opened, thereby condemning the government's actions.
