The Director General of Health Services has instructed to close the quarantine centers set up to quarantine foreigners for a fee.
The Opposition in Parliament has revealed that a campaign to quarantine Indians in Sri Lanka is being launched with the intervention of a group of businessmen and government representatives. However, government ministers at the time stated that such a process would not take place. Cabinet Spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella stated that the allegation was a blatant lie.
However, it has been confirmed that foreigners are being quarantined in the country and Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga had recently admitted this.
This was also discussed in Parliament yesterday. Samagi Jana Balawega MP Kavinda Jayawardena and Jathika Jana Balawega MP Vijitha Herath questioned the government in this regard.
Speaking at a televised discussion last night (04), the Director General of Health Services stated that this program was launched without his knowledge. However, the Director General says that he was instructed to stop it as soon as he became aware of it.
