16th Annual District Convention of Lions Clubs International Sri Lanka, District 306 B2 was postponed due the current situation in the country with regards to the Covid 19 pandemic, and the strict guidelines laid down by the Health authorities. However, the Business session was successfully held on the 2nd of May 2021 at Hotel Ramrich, Ekala, Ja Ela.
The elections took place using an Electronic voting Platform to elect the District Governor, 1st and 2nd Vice District Governors of Lionistic year 2021/2022. A Hybrid event took place at the hotel, where a limited number of participants attended physically and others joined via Zoom to cast their ballots.
Lion Indhra Kaushal Rajapaksa was elected as the District Governor, Lion Gratien Fernando as the 1st VDG, and Lion Anura Dissanayake as the 2nd VDG respectively.
The newly elected Governor is a product of Ananda College Colombo qualified in Polymer Science in Technology at the Katubedda Campus and obtained an MBA in Business Administration in the USA. He was the former General Manager at Loastor [pvt] ltd. He is also a Director of a Boat Manufacturing Company called Baff Polymech, Sales Lanka Charter and Building a Future Foundation.
He is holding various positions including Executive Committee Member at National Chamber of Exporters, National Chamber of Industries, member of the Chartered Management Institute of the UK, member of the Advisory Committee of Export Development Board for Boat Manufacturing, member of Advisory Committee of Ministry of Industries for Rubber Product Manufacturing and the Chairman of Minuangoda Industrial Association.
Mr. Rajapaksa is the Vice President of Rubber Institute of Sri Lanka. He has his own business called Kalhari for exporting wastage and post-consumer plastics and rubber for recycling. He is a visionary leader in the Recycling Sector. His passion for community service has been nurtured by Lions club international District 306B2.
