A committee consisting of Members of Parliament has been appointed to inquire into the conflict situation that arose in the House of Parliament on the 21st, two years after the Easter attack. Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena informed the House today (23) about the members of the relevant committee.
Deputy Speaker Ranjith Siyambalapitiya has been appointed as the chairman of the committee while Chamal Rajapaksa, Keheliya Rambukwella, Susil Premajayantha and Anura Priyadarshana Yapa have been nominated on behalf of the ruling party. Imtiaz Bakir Makar, Ranjith Madduma Bandara, M.A. Sumanthiran has been nominated for the committee.
The Committee is tasked with investigating the incidents that took place in the Chamber of Parliament on or before April 21, and recommending action to be taken and proposing action to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future.
