Asela Sampath, National Organiser of All Ceylon Restaurant Owners Association and Convener of Consumer Rights Protection Movement, has been released on bail, as decided by the Fort Magistrate Court today (19).
Accordingly, the consumer rights activist has been released on two sureties of Rs. 500,000.
Sampath was arrested by Slave Island Police on April 13 based on a warrant in connection with a case alleging him to have threatened Consumer Affairs Authority officials at Vauxhall Street, Colombo two years ago. He was remanded till today.
