The story of the past
A few months ago, Ven. Uduwe Thera had summoned Minister Wimal Weerawansa and Minister Udaya Gammanpila to his temple. The Thera had scolded Basil Rajapaksa and had promised to take any possible action to oust Basil. And that he would give his fullest support.
Somehow Basil Rajapaksa had also heard about this story and he too had hurried to meet the Uduwe Thero. After the other talks, Rajapaksa had inquired about the problems of Ven. Uduwe Thera and had said, "No one cares about us now." and had pointed out the shortcomings of the temple including the alms hall.
At that moment, Basil Rajapaksa had phoned Sumal Perera, the owner of Access Engineering. According to the notification made at that time, Sumal Perera had completed all the above constructions at a cost of millions of rupees.
The constructions were grandly inaugurated on the 11th. The Venerable Uduwe Thero who had said a few months ago that Basil should be ousted said that there was no one better than Basil.
