Another stock containing 264,000 doses of Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine against the Covid-19 virus has arrived in Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport this (07) morning.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) together with UNICEF has launched an initiative to provide free Covid Vaccine in developing countries, which covers 20% of the population in each country.
It is under this initiative the first stock designated to Sri Lanka has arrived this morning.
The consignment of vaccines has been delivered to Airport by an Emirates cargo flight EK 2528 at around 12.15 this morning.
These doses will be jabbed to the senior citizens of age above 60 from today onwards, revealed State Minister of Covid Control Dr. Sudarshani Fernandopulle. Upon conclusion, a full report ought to be submitted to the WHO in order to collect the second stock, she added.
