Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Hon.Namal Rajapaksa will be the Chief Guest and will open a state of the art Indoor Cricket sporting facility named Grand Park Arena in Piliyandala later this evening.
Officials from the Ministry of Sports, Sri Lanka Cricket, Sports Directors of the Tri Forces, Media and other sport dignitaries have also been invited for the ceremony.
This private venture fully owned by Mr.Eran Ranasinghe will eventually see Grand Park Arena complete its other planned facilities such as a badminton court, gymnasium and a swimming pool in stages.
Eran Ranasinghe, an old boy of St.Thomas' College Mount Lavinia and an ardent lover of sports said " Sport has always been an integral part of Sri Lanka's culture and it is important that we support the younger generation in any way we could. Sport has also been a great great leveller where even strong bonds of friendship are built. Whilst keeping these objectives in mind, we have ventured out to build this facility, as many within and around the areas of Piliyandala could take advantage of such a facility."
