India is set to begin exporting its covid-19 immunization vaccine from today (20).

The first batch of vaccines is to be exported to Bhutan and the second batch of 2 million doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured in India will be sent to Bangladesh tomorrow.

However, it is reported that there are indications that Sri Lanka will not be included in the first phase of this vaccine export program.

The Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka has stated that the first phase of the vaccine will be issued to Bhutan, Maldives, Bangladesh, Myanmar and the Seychelles. Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Mauritius have not yet issued the necessary regulatory approvals for the vaccine, the office said.
