The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) alleges that there is a situation in the Colombo District where it is a low risk area but the District Director of Health Services does not carry out such activities properly.

At a media briefing held in Colombo today (20) the Secretary of the Association Dr. Chenal Fernando stated that the Director of Health Services in the Colombo District will not report accurate information regarding covid 19 in the Colombo District as well as in the Municipal Council area without delay.

Shenal Fernando said that the slowdown in the Colombo district, which is a region where data should be obtained without delay, would affect future decisions.

The Government Medical Officers' Association alleges that although the information should have been given to the Western Provincial Director of Health Services, it was not done properly by the District Director of Health Services.

In controlling the spread of covid 19, the infrastructure facilities to be provided to the Colombo District Medical Officer of Health have not been properly provided and the District Director of Health Services has not taken action to provide the necessary transport facilities to transport those who need to be sent for quarantine.

He said that the spread of the disease has been brought under control in 14 other districts and if the Colombo cluster could be eradicated it would be very important and the future would be crucial.

Accordingly, a complaint will be lodged with the President as well as the Director General of Health Services regarding the delay and negligence of the Colombo District Director of Health Services, Dr. Shenal Fernando said.

Dr. Fernando said that the Epidemiology Unit had not collected and mapped the data related to the spread of Kovid 19 and that the Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) had continued to comment on the matter.
