Law shall not be enforced in a two-way manner over parliamentarians and the public, Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa emphasised, delivering a statement with media.
In the wake of the Covid-19 crisis in the island, the government adopted new laws and regulations, and parliamentary sessions cannot be held, are these laws and regulations to be complied with, he pointed out.
Speaking to the press at the Parliament premises, Mr. Premadasa said that in the imposition of laws that are supposed to supress Covid-19, there should not be one law for people and another for the Members of Parliament.
In the event that the government is catering to a dictatorial constitutional amendment, it is a great tragedy that people are waging a serious struggle for their livelihood, he added.
