Former minister John Amaratunga said the national list seat the United National Party managed to secure belongs to him, expressing his confidence with the party leader that he would be nominating him soon.
The former minister added that he does not wish to battle for the position, adding that he is simply of the stance that it should be handed over to him.
"I am ready for sure. I was in Parliament for 42 consecutive years. Proceeding for another three to four years would not be a challenge," he pointed out, speaking to media yesterday (21).
It is also noteworthy that Amaratunga's name is listed top in the national list of the United National Party.
