It is reported that the Sena caterpillar epidemic which was reported from various parts of the country about a year ago has resurfaced. It is from the Passara area in Badulla. The caterpillar has been reported from about 40 acres of maize fields in the area.
Farmers say Sena caterpillars have taken over their fields even before the harvest. The farmers allege that despite informing the agriculture officers in the area, the officials have not yet come for a field inspection.
The Sena caterpillar epidemic has been reported in many parts of the country in recent times, and rumors about the army caterpillar have been dampened by the election season and the Kovid epidemic.
