State Minister of Pharmaceuticals, Supplies and Regulation Prof. Channa Jayasumana said he will be ending the deadly kidney disease crisis currently spread throughout Rajarata before the end of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's first term in Office.

He made this observation upon assuming duties in his ministry on Friday (15).

Researches carried out during the last five years revealed the causes of agricultural kidney disease in Rajarata, Jayasumana said, adding that the necessary steps are being taken to control the disease.

Thus the state minister added that necessary steps will be taken to manufacture the medicines required by the patients locally, instead of importing them, with establishing a modern pharmaceutical factory for this purpose.
