All activities of the Kurunegala Municipal Council have come to a standstill due to the entire staff not reporting for duty on sick leave. As a result, it is reported that all the services provided by the Municipal Council including the cleaning, garbage disposal and fire services provided by the Municipal Council have been completely disrupted.

It is reported that they have launched the strike in support of the Mayor of Kurunegala who has been issued a warrant for allegedly bulldozing the Buwanekaba Raja Sabha building.

A protest was also organized in front of the Kurunegala Clock Tower yesterday against the Commissioner General of Archeology.

Five persons including the Mayor of Kurunegala were issued warrants for the second time yesterday but the police have not been able to arrest them yet.
