On July 27, the World Health Organization designated five states which successfully eradicated the COVID-19 contagion among others. One of them was Vietnam, a neighbour to China.

Vietnam kept a clear record without reporting any COVID-related deaths, only until yesterday.

However, as of the present, two fatalities have been reported from Vietnam due to the contagion.

The sudden change has also surged the number of positive cases within the state, in which case a record of 50 and 37 new infections were reported orderly yesterday and the day before. On July 29, Vietnam reported a total count of 459 positive cases. Accordingly, their latest statistics indicate that the total number of positive cases has surged up to 558, with 183 active cases.

Since the Coronavirus took a turn outside China, Vietnamese authorities adhered to stern measures to control the pandemic within their region, thereby locking down the country and successfully suppressing the virus.

However, upon reopening it, the virus seems to have taken a second wave.
