Leader of United National Party Ranil Wickremesinghe said the public is ought to make a decision on whether a president and a prime minister should be elected from the same party or hands should be filled with money. He made this observation speaking to the Maharagama Electoral Board meeting.
When a government was formed in 2015, the public servants' paycheck was increased by Rs. 10,000 by the end of February with less than a group of 50 members on their side, spawning an increased trade throughout the island, the UNP leader reminded.
Accordingly, either the income should be increased, or the costs ought to be decreased, in which case a UNP-led government is always determined to save money by slashing down costs, he added, thereby requesting the public to cast their mandate for the United National Party in the upcoming 2020 Polls to strengthen the economy.
