JVP Leader Anura Dissanayake says that although the people voted at the elections, the final decision on the formation of governments and the appointment of leaders will be taken by the embassies. He states that throughout history the leaders of the country have been appointed according to the needs of the American and Indian embassies.
He said this addressing a meeting of the Jathika Jana Balawegaya in Dehiwala yesterday.
Mr. Dissanayake says that the MCC agreement was one of the main slogans of Gotabhaya Rajapaksa in the last presidential election. Mr. Dissanayake says he was ready to study the agreement instead of tearing it down. Recalling the statement that the US embassy will also give the government six months to study the agreement, the JVP leader says that Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and the US embassy, who represented two opposing parties on the MCC deal before the presidential election, are now on one view.
He pointed out that since the general election has been postponed due to the influence of the covid virus, the US has given the government of Sri Lanka until August to sign the agreement.
