Former parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa has urged President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to immediately conduct an investigation into the crashed Mt. Lavinia Beach development project, which was on top of every media's attention during the recent period.
He made this observation speaking to media in Mulgirigala today (02).
Although measures ought to be taken in preserving the coastal line and the erosion, the project has led to a great financial crime, the former MP pointed out, urging that an immediate investigation should be conducted in this regard given that there is reasonable doubt whether the methodology followed was out of the standard procedure.
Who had tabled the Cabinet papers on this project, who had selected the contractors, who had issued the technical report, whether there was an environmental assessment report, and whether there was an observation when it was approved by the Coast Conservation or reasons for otherwise should be investigated, he went on, further urging that had there been any irregularity, law should be enforced.
