Petitions filed before the Supreme Court regarding the general election rejected without hearing

A five-member Supreme Court bench today (02) ordered the rejection of petitions filed before the Supreme Court regarding the general election.

The petitions were filed seeking the nullification of the gazette notifications issued by the President regarding the dissolution of parliament and the general election on June 20.

The petitions were considered before a five-member Supreme Court bench comprising Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya for 10 days.
