62,162 people have been arrested for avoiding Police instructions since the first imposition of Curfew on March 20, Police revealed. 17,460 vehicles have been taken into custody within that time.
In the last 24 hours ended from 6 am this (23) morning, 541 persons have been arrested with 138 vehicles being seized into custodym statistics indicated.
As of the present, Police have prosecuted 18,992 suspects who arrested on the allegation of violating curfew. Meanwhile 7387 have been convicted guilty and penalized, Police further revealed.
Curfew is to be imposed islandwide during tomorrow (24) and the day after (25), and should anyone breach the quarantine regulations and violate curfew will be enforced law, according to Police. 900 road blocks have been established throughout the island, DIG Ajith Rohana said.
