393 fatalities in UK due to COVID-19 hitting death toll at 1,808

Another 393 people have died after contracting coronavirus - taking the UK total to 1,808.

The latest increase is a sharp increase from yesterday's rise of 180.

The government has said there are now 25,150 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK.

In England, a further 367 people who tested positive for coronavirus have died, bringing the total number to 1,651.

The patients were aged between 19 and 98 years old and all but 28 of them had underlying health conditions.

The 19-year-old victim did not have underlying health conditions, NHS England said.

In Scotland, 1,993 people had tested positive for the virus as of 9 am on Tuesday, up 430 on the previous day.

There have been 112 new confirmed cases of coronavirus in Wales, bringing the total number to 1,563.
