Pillayan is getting ready for the General Election from Prison

A former armed LTTE and a former Chief Minister of the Eastern Province Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan, is also preparing to contest the General Election from the Tamil People's Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (TMVP).

The party has informed the Elections Commission that TMVP would contest the general election for the Batticaloa district from the Boat Symbol.

Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan has been charged in connection with the murder of former TNA MP Joseph Pararajasingham and is currently in remand custody.

TMVP party secretary Pubalasingham Prashanthan says that he is considering whether he has the opportunity to contest while in remand custody.

If he is not allowed to contest the election he will contest from the Batticaloa district.
