No alliance with JVP, what I said was misunderstood - Rauf Hakeem

Sri Lanka Muslim Congress will not be align with the JVP or TNA due to different opinions on politics said the Muslim Congress leader Rauf Hakeem. Despite the political opinions are different we cannot join and contest the election.

He said the speech he made at the 29th annual meeting that all minority parties would join as an alliance has been misinterpreted to the public.

Hakeem made this statement at a press conference held at Earl's Regency Hotel in Kandy today 24th to correct the statement he made.

There is a need for the minority parties to work together to protect democracy. The SLMC leader said that they are holding talks with these parties.

He said a crisis has erupted in the society from the statement he made that all minority parties should join together and create an alliance. He said JVP leader Anura Kumara advised him regarding this, Therefore he is correcting the statement he made.

The SLMC will contest the next general election with the alliance led by Sajith Premadasa and he will contest the election from the Kandy district.
