The HNB Finance aiming to develop the creativity, power of imagination and attitudes of primary school students held the initial workshop of YALU DASKAM, an island-wide series of drawing workshops, at Sri Seelalankara Primary School, Pahala Bomiriya, Kaduwela, sponsored by YALU Children's Savings Account.
The workshop was held from 9 am to 1.30 pm, aiming over 140 students of Grades 3 and 4 and moderated by veteran artist and art consultant Dayawansa Kumasaru.
Paintings drawn by students were reviewed in the workshop evaluating their shapes, use of colour and creativity educating them and raising awareness among parents on developing their children's artistic skills.
Compared to previous years a quality change is sought in the 2020 program to develop artistic skills of children and HNB Finance will hold an art competition to coincide with World Children's Day which would feature a selection of paintings from children.
Children who displayed their paintings under various titles and themes were assessed and given certificates.
The school principal, staff members, staff of HNB Finance head office and Kaduwela branch took participation in the event.
