The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) is not ready to beg for an alliance by falling down in knees before the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), SLFP secretary Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekara said, stressing that the SLPP can terminate the memorandum of understanding signed during the presidential election if they wish to.
"The public may question as to why would they behave in a manner with no gratitude after taking the advantage of us. We signed a contract to fight as a team. If they propose us to contest separately, what should be done first it to terminate the agreement, then the rest may be followed.
We are not ready to beg for an alliance by falling down in knees before them. They should be making whether they are contesting from the Pohottu Symbol without giving in to an alliance, so we would have to think as to how we should be working towards this matter," he said.
Mr. Jayasekara made these observations speaking at a press briefing held in Colombo yesterday (13).
