The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna the political celebrity of Sri Lanka is of the intention to isolate the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) in the coming general election, SLFP pointed out.
By awakening a huge criticism over party chairman former president Maithripala Sirisena, the SLPP's efforts to separate SLFP from mainstream has grown into which nominations not being given, according to SLFP seniors.
In addition to backing at the presidential election, many in the Pohottu Party have forgotten how the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and the United People's Freedom Alliance let the SLPP keep their parliament membership upon departure two years ago, they revealed.
The SLPP however cannot achieve its goal without the allegiance of the SLFP, senior stalwarts to the SLFP viewed, stressing that they would not be able to achieve majority as a standalone movement.
The SLPP has already initiated its political campaign for the upcoming general election. The SLFP faction said the SLPP devotees are of the belief that they can win the election without the help of others as Mr. Basil Rajapaksa, founder of SLPP, returned to island.
However, the SLFP does not wish to withdraw from the Alliance and would stand by it till the last moment, they pointed out.
