In light of establishing global luxury brands JW Marriot and Ritz Carlton in the island, renowned businessmen Dhammika Perera, chairman of Greener Water Limited, and Mohan Pandithage, chairman of Summer Season Limited signed two memorandum of understandings, business reports revealed.
The occasion was graced by Regional Vice President Head of Business Development, Marriott International Kiran Andicot, and Executive Director, Hayleys Plc and Managing Director of Hayleys Leisure Sector Rohan Karr.
Mr. Perera signed the MOU with President – Asia Pacific (Excluding Greater China) of Marriott International Rajeev Menon, and Chairman & Chief Executive of Hayleys PLC signed the MOU for Ritz Carlton, Mirissa.
JW Marriot, a five star luxurious hotel comprised of 500 rooms located in Negombo is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter of year 2021, and Ritz Carlton, comprised of 228 rooms, the other definition for elegance, in the third quarter of 2022 in Mirissa, according to reports.
While adding redefinition to Sri Lanka's standard of being elegant, this would be a massive investment for the country's economy through leisure and tourism industries amidst its downfall, economic analysts pointed out, appraising the great efforts and commitment by Mr. Dhammika Perera in his vision to expand hospitality to attract high-end travelers drawing a bigger gesture for the cause.
