Cabraal’s close relatives involved in primary bond transaction companies, forensic audit report reveals

Four close relatives of former governor of Central Bank (CB) Ajith Nivard Cabraal held senior positions in the primary transaction companies buying bonds, the forensic audit report on the controversial bond scam disclosed.  

Accordingly, 

  1. Shiromi Noel Wickremesinghe, sister of Cabraal, served as a director of questionable Perpetual Capital Holdings, 
  2. Amal Cabraal, brother of Ajith Nivard Cabraal, served as a director of Commercial Bank, 
  3. Ravindra Thambaiya, a brother in law to Cabraal, served as a director of DFCC Bank,
  4. Nihal Fonseka, a cousin of Cabraal, served as a senior officer in Commercial Bank,

during Mr. Cabraal's tenure as the governor of CB. 

It was highly noteworthy that Cabraal long before the forensic audit report was tabled in Parliament posed objection on the matter by producing pages and pages of articles. 

Cabraal, who is a frontman in the 'Viyath Maga' Program currently serves as a senior economic counsel to the Prime Minister and is a member of the 'Api Wenuwen Api' Fund.
