Loss amounting to Bonds between 2005 - 2015 Rs. 10,470 million, MP Harsha De Silva reveals

The loss on the government amounting to Central Bank bonds between 2005 - 2015 in accordance with the forensic report tabled in the Chambers yesterday (22) is Rs. 10,470 million, UNP Parliamentarian Harsha De Silva revealed.

Minister Kanchana Wijesekara tasking Speaker to take responsibility for missing content in the forensic report commented in Parliament, while MP Harsha De Silva responded that the issue is where the Central Bank has stated in its letter that the permission of the Attorney General is required on this matter. 

"I am currently reading the first report. Its executive summary states that the loss incurred by the government due to CB bonds amounts Rs. 10,470 million," he said.  

The loss incurred by the government in the controversial 2015 bond scam was estimated to be around Rs. 689 million, whilst an on-going case on the matter is being heard in the court.
