A high level internal investigation is to be launched on liquor licence fraud running up to millions of rupees, informed source said.
Liquor licences (FL4) were allegedly have been issued defrauding Rs.500 million has come to light when the newly appointed Commissioner General of Excise A. Bodaragama, was inspecting relevant files, a senior official of the department said.
It has been revealed that 10 liquor licences have been sold by a former top official of the finance ministry during the tenure former Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera.
The FL4 licence fraud is to be investigated as soon as possible on the directions of the new Commissioner General of Excise A. Bodaragama.
