There will be more time required for voters to cast their vote due to the length of the ballot paper, observers stressed.
Accordingly, the maximum number of voters who could cast their votes during an hour would be 200, election observers disclosed.
The Election Commission had also identified this issue and therefore extended the time for voting by one hour.
Election observatory organizations urge voters to go to the polls as early as possible, urging that voting as early as possible will benefit voters as well as officials at the polling station.
Previous elections were held from 7 am to 4 pm and this time it has been extended to 5 pm. Any voter who does not hold his ballot by 5 pm will not be given the opportunity to vote, Chairman of Election Commission Mahidna Deshapriya pointed out.
