The nameboard of the Jaffna International Airport, which was opened recently, has become a major problem for some politicians and they are attempting to fulfill their political needs by creating a large mud hole, presidential nominee of National People's Power (NPP), leader of JVP Anura Kumara Dissanayake said.
Dissanayake said that the Rajapaksas who have questioned the Tamil title at the top of the Jaffna International Airport Nameboard have forgotten that their Jaffna Office for Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) also has a nameboard with a Tamil title on top of it.
Mr. Dissanayake questioned whether politicians who instigate nationalism by such lowly tactics can be entrusted with national security of Sri Lanka.
He made these sentiments speaking at the launching event of NPP's Policy Statement on National Security.
The country now has no terrorist movements such as the LTTE, but the country is being suffered from insecurity due to conflicts between the communities, he stressed.
He added that the only thing that can be done to eradicate insecurity is to build national unity among the communities. The two main parties do not understand this situation, as they have no proper program, by which those of the NPP can only provide the solution, he further said.
