US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will leave for Turkey with Vice President Mike Pence, the State Department announced on Wednesday (16).

The two are due to leave for Turkey today (17), and Pompeo is scheduled to visit Jerusalem and Brussels thereafter, the announcement said.

Pompeo is scheduled to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem on Friday (18), followed by a meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels, US State Department announcement further said.

Pompeo and Pence are scheduled to meet with Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan in country's capital Ankara and urge to stop his invasion in Syria, according to foreign reports.

However, in the midst of the civil war crisis in Syria, US President Donald Trump has ordered the withdrawal of US troops from Syria, leaving the Kurdish community, which had been allies to the States for a long time, helpless.
