Hemasiri Fernando, former Defence Secretary, and IGP Pujith Jayasundara, who was on compulsory leave, have been remanded till October 23, as ordered by the Court of Appeal.
This was when the suspects were produced before Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne.
The former defence secretary and the IGP were remanded for allegedly failing to avert the impact of the Easter Sunday attacks and later released on bail by the Colombo Magistrate Court.
However, the Attorney General had filed a revision application against the bail order, for which a verdict has been announced by the Court of Appeal. The Court of Appeal declaring the verdict stated that the Magistrate Court has no power to issue bail and revoked the sentence.
Accordingly Fernando and Jayasundara have been remanded after being produced to the Colombo Magistrate Court.
