Hemasiri Fernando, former Defence Secretary, and IGP Pujith Jayasundara, who was on compulsory leave, have been arrested again, reports said.
This was when the bail application ordered by the Magistrate Court upon their release was revoked by the Colombo High Court today (09).
Former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and IGP Pujith Jayasundara had been charged before the Colombo Magistrate's Court for failing to avert the impact of the Easter Sunday attacks, and arrested.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne ordered the release of the two suspects on bail. However, the Attorney General had filed a revision application before the Colombo High Court, to which a verdict has been announced today.
High Court Judge Vikum Kaluarachchi declaring the verdict stated that the Magistrate's Court had no power to grant bail to the two suspects in the case.
The High Court Judge accordingly ordered the suspects to be immediately remanded.
